{"id":290,"date":"2025-04-18T09:41:28","date_gmt":"2025-04-18T07:41:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monielo.org\/?page_id=290"},"modified":"2026-10-05T23:35:57","modified_gmt":"2026-10-05T21:35:57","slug":"association-monielo","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.monielo.org\/en\/association-monielo\/","title":{"rendered":"About Monielo"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who we are<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">MONIELO is an association founded in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.journal-officiel.gouv.fr\/pages\/associations-detail-annonce\/?q.id=id:201500441760\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.journal-officiel.gouv.fr\/pages\/associations-detail-annonce\/?q.id=id:201500441760\">October 2015 under French law (loi 1901)<\/a>, non-profit, established in France and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Its work is carried out in Kinshasa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The association began with a meeting: a young shoe-shine boy, who was working to pay for his own schooling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a great many children sadly have no access to\u00a0<strong>education<\/strong>, for lack of money or of schools within reach. We give priority to orphaned children, so that they are not punished twice over: losing their parents, and then being denied any prospect of a future. Schooling is what breaks that chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Our mission<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We support children from disadvantaged backgrounds by giving them the chance to join a <strong>school<\/strong> and to receive individual follow-up. Because <strong>growing up well<\/strong>\u00a0also means flourishing in the classroom, learning, and staying curious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some children have been out of school for months, sometimes years, and for them we also run <strong>catch-up classes<\/strong>. These programmes let them recover the essentials and regain their confidence before returning to mainstream school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What we do<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>School Sponsorship<\/strong> : we cover <strong>school fees<\/strong>, supplies and uniforms, so that access to education is genuinely equal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Catch-up classes<\/strong> : teaching workshops designed for children whose schooling has been interrupted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Educational support<\/strong> : following each child through the school year to support their <strong>success<\/strong> and their development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Working with families<\/strong> : to show the importance of\u00a0<strong>education<\/strong> and to encourage the\u00a0<strong>commitment<\/strong> of parents alongside their children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why education?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because learning is more than acquiring knowledge. Giving a child the chance to go to\u00a0<strong>school<\/strong>\u00a0hands them the keys to <strong>growing up well<\/strong> and standing on their own. It is also an investment in a country's future, in the generations who will build it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Join us<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We believe every gesture counts.
