The importing company is called <strong>Maison Louvila LLC<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What drew us to this project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Helping to <strong>develop the beekeeping sector<\/strong> in Congo.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Helping to <strong>protect the Congolese forest<\/strong> from deforestation and charcoal burning.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Schooling and supporting other children<\/strong> who need it, in Kinshasa and at the beekeeping sites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lemfu, our batch is packed and labelled before shipping.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">One dollar per litre for the children<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For every litre of honey bought from local producers, <strong>Maison Louvila LLC pays one dollar to MONIELO<\/strong>. The more the sector grows, the more children we can support: the link between beekeeping and schooling is direct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why the forest is at the heart of the project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Kongo Central, cutting trees to produce charcoal is one of the leading causes of forest loss. Beekeeping offers an alternative: it provides families with an income <strong>for as long as the forest is left standing<\/strong>. Hives need flowering trees, and the bees in turn pollinate the neighbouring crops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Income that stays where it is earned<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The honey is bought directly from Congolese beekeepers, with no middlemen, then exported to the United States. The added value stays with the producers, and a share of the revenue goes to the children supported by MONIELO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Congolese honey presented in New York<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the United States, the honey is packed and sold under the <strong>Maison Louvila<\/strong>brand.
