This charter sets out the ethics of our work, and is meant to keep it on course.
Our association exists to meet the challenges facing African countries in general, and the DR Congo in particular, in reaching a sustainable economy that serves people and nothing else; to promote organic farming and animal husbandry that respect the environment, where everything is transformed and recycled; to work so that goods are processed, preserved and carried by a modern industry, local wherever possible, drawing only on green and renewable energy (solar, wind and biogas); to build a spirit of solidarity and cooperation within self-governing production centres, where workers can do together work that is useful to their community and their country; to promote fair trade, sustainable development and solidarity initiatives at every site, and above all help for children through schooling; and to make the cultural and culinary wealth of Congolese villages known in France and beyond, through eco-tourism that brings people closer together.
This is a purpose anyone can share, and the association is therefore non-political and non-denominational. Our accounts are open, and available at any time to any donor who asks to see them. We manage them strictly, with deep respect for the money entrusted to us, and with one concern: that it serve the purpose set out above as fully as possible — children, the environment, or farmers in rural areas. The association refuses to trade in pity, and refuses to make its readers feel guilty, in its presentations and in everything it publishes; it sets out instead to describe the reality it witnesses. Our funds come mainly from private giving (sponsorships, and support from associations and companies), together with public funding that allows new investment. We honour donors' intentions by keeping the commitments we make and by controlling our spending closely. The association will always keep command and control of its own funding.
